Professional Portfolio Experience - Week 1

Well, after over a year of taking courses, I can feel everything coming together. This course, along with the next two, signal the end of the program is near. While in the first lecture of this week's class I felt, just for a minute, an overwhelming feeling come over me. I looked at the work to be done in this course I felt some panic. As time passed, I looked at the assignments and some portfolio examples I started to relax. While this will be an important project, most of the work is not difficult, but it will take some time.

It took me a while to find some examples. I did find the Googlio site after some searching. I did find it difficult to find quality online portfolios. I did find some but they were either incomplete or just plain bad. I would love to see a site that is a directory for online portfolios, similar to those for online lesson plans.

I am looking forward to constructing my online portfolio and looking back on what we have accomplished over the last 15 months.

  1. I really like the idea of a directory for eportfolios. It would be helpful. I found a few good ones, they are hereand here.

Those might be helpful for you. I do feel as though a lot of time and effort will go into this project, but I think the outcome with be a wonderful, professional piece that is reflective of the hard work we put into this program!

  2. Mike, it is funny but I can't believe that we are already in the homestretch with the MEIT program. Despite having had a course which emphasized search engine techniques I had a whale of a time trying to find portfolios. Out of the 15 plus sites that I examined I found only a handful that were well-planned and executed. Even then they were found wanting in several areas.

I think the big takeaway for me is that I identified the elements that I would like my MEIT Portfolio to have. Now, I have to see if Google Sites will let me incorporate all of them.

Thanks for the insight about everything coming together now. It is so true. We have come a long ways since the initial assignments examining Social Bookmarks.

  3. Everything you’ve said about both the quality of the portfolios and your emotions, I too have gone through. One thing is for certain, creating a quality portfolio is going to be a good deal of work and time. I’m glad that this portfolio project has a lasting benefit.
