After checking out some of the options, I chose to use Screenr for my assignment. What I liked about this was how easy it was to use and that it was connected to my Twitter account. My goal for a couple of years has been to create short tutorial videos to replace the over 100 page technology manual that we distribute to teachers. I plan on having a Twitter account setup so that each time I post something a message is sent out to a group e-mail address so all teachers and staff get a message. Now, as I create these videos I can automatically Tweet that it is done and all teachers and staff will get notification about it.
I also spent time this week working on my Google Sites pages. I have been working on a site for the Messmer Tech department for a while and this is going to motivate me to get it done. Still lots to do to get this ready before school starts.
I like Screenr but I wonder if we can use it outside of the Twitterverse? It is really easy to use and I thought the audio and video quality were superb. Do you think all of the teachers will get on the Twitter bandwagon? Perhaps a tweet and an e-mail during the transition.
ReplyDeleteNow, about that 100 page manual. The Web 2.0 applications are so easy to use. The added bonus is all of the documentation is online and anyone can find it there. Just a thought, create a Twitter Group for people using (Screencast Product Name Here) and use them as a Twitter resource for ideas.
Neat idea to use Screenr so you can disseminate your work to staff quickly! I have hopes that at some point our tech people will move to using screencasts to show us how to do new things rather than photocopying 20 pages of screenshots that walk us through the process (and end up in the recycle bin)! I think more staff would view the screencasts and they could be stored on our server for anytime access! Just last school year as adminstration was trying to push the use of clickers, I received three stapled packets of screenshots...OMG!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of posts going to an email address. I didn't know that was possible with twitter. Thanks!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are embedding links within your blog - keep it up!
